Domestic five-day opening results for Half-Blood Prince - Updated

The domestic total takings (Canada and the US) for the first five days of release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince have been released by Bloomberg. In terms of early takings, with $159.7 million gross the sixth movie is second to the new Transformers film.

A total of $79.5 million was made over the three-day weekend.

UPDATE: Reuters is reporting that on an international scale, Half-Blood Prince has made a total of $396.7 million in the first five days of release, breaking the record made by Spider-Man 3 two years ago.
