“When guests visit Ollivanders, they will instantly feel like they’re in the shop from the films. It’s an intimate, single-windowed building, with the same signs, colors and other details read about in the books and seen in the films,” said Alan Gilmore, art director of the Harry Potterfilms and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. “But more importantly, visitors to Ollivanders will experience for themselves the magical moment that forever changed Harry’s life.”

Inside Ollivanders, visitors will be surrounded by thousands of multi-colored dusty wand boxes stacked on shelves from floor to ceiling. They will be welcomed by an inquisitive Wandkeeper,
who will guide them through an enchanting experience to find their very own wand. First the Wandkeeper will ask the guest a few special questions and then select the first wand for them to
try. Just like Harry, the guest will be prompted by the Wandkeeper to give the wand a wave, and a series of magical mishaps will occur until the right fit is found.

Also, today's issue of USA Today includes an augmented reality map of the theme park. Heads Up: You can also have a look at the map at

Additionally,, along with several Harry Potter fansites, took part in an interview with Theirry Coup, VP of Creative for Universal Orlando this morning. According to Coup, visitors to Ollivander's Wand Shop will take part in an interactive experience whereby a wandmaker will narrow down which type of wand will be best for them through a series of questions, after which the correct wand will choose its owner. The experience will be very similar to Harry's in the first film, including special effects. Visitors will then be able to buy their wand, or any wand in the shop of their choosing. There will also be a "build-a-wand" section in the store for young children. Additionally, the Dervish and Banges shop will offer wand accessories, among other items.Â

Coup also spoke about other areas of the park, stating that interiors of the buildings are at 90 percent completion. Hogwarts castle will showcase Dumbledore's office, the Dark Arts classroom and the Great Hall, among others. Also, authentic props from the films will be located throughout the park, including the flying Ford Anglia.
